The European AI platform for biotechnology

Gencovery becomes a Mission-driven company in 2026

Democratize access to scientific data and promote collaboration for the well-being of ecosystems.

Gencovery founders — Adama and Wassim

A project created by two co-founders

Gencovery was born from a strong conviction: scientific data is a wealth too often underused because it is inaccessible. In 2019, following the hospitalization of a family member with cancer, Adama realized that access to patient data was a major health challenge. He imagined a platform that could reconnect, free and democratize access to that data in the service of research, innovation and services.

With Wassim, a long-time friend, Adama co-founded Gencovery. Since 2019, we have been building a sovereign, ethical and open digital infrastructure to help scientists and institutions unlock the full potential of their data.

Our commitments

Democratize data science with trust
Academic partnerships, tailored training, lectures in universities.
Act for fair digital tools for everyone
Support for NGOs, e-health initiatives, sovereign and accessible projects.
Open data & tools with trust

Our story and roadmap

  1. 2020

    Founding

Gencovery was founded by two applied-mathematics researchers, graduates of École Centrale de Nantes (Djomangan Adama OUATTARA, PhD) and École polytechnique (Wassim ABOU-JAOUDE, PhD). The company is supported by the BIOASTER Technological Research Institute and incubated by SATT PULSALYS and LifeHub Lyon (Bayer).
  2. 2021

First use cases and concept validation

Gencovery deployed the first prototype of its Constellab™ digital platform and signed its first contract with Bayer in Lyon (France).

Constellab™ is used in R&D to deepen the understanding of microorganism biology — combining AI and digital twins — to design safer and more effective crop-protection products.
  3. 2022

Technical structuring and first strategic collaborations

Product deployment: Constellab™ launches on OVHcloud and is adopted by Adisseo for animal-nutrition R&D.

Support & community: the Constellab™ Community platform delivers documentation to better support our customers.

R&D & partnerships: winner of the R&D Booster 2022 call funded by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bpifrance; Gencovery–Greencell–BIOASTER partnership for 2nd-generation digital twins to reinforce bioprocesses through AI.

Ecosystem & events: successful 1st edition of Constellab Connect, focused on digital modeling of microbial communities in life sciences and health.
  4. 2023

Industrialization and expansion into new sectors

Product & adoption: launch of Constellab™ v1; a robust Customer Success process is established.

Deployment: Constellab™ ships on Microsoft Azure and on-premise; partnership signed with Beckman-Coulter to drive lab instruments directly from Constellab™.

Strategic collaborations: with SupBiotech on AI and bioinformatics training; with Institut Imagine (AP-HP) to apply digital twins to the metabolic mechanisms of rare genetic diseases.

AI capabilities: generative AI integrated to simplify data exploration and visualization for biologists.

Ecosystem & events: successful 2nd edition of Constellab Connect, focused on AI in biotech and health.
  5. 2024

    Exploration and commercial structuring

US exploration: co-organizer of the 8th Boston Biotech Summit; market and investor exploration in the United States.

Sector leadership: chairing a Data/AI working group with AFSSI (Association Française des Sociétés de Service et d'Innovation in life sciences; 130+ CRO companies in France).

Openness & community: launch of the Fair Open Access offer via the Constellab Community platform.

Funding: first crowdfunding bridge round with targets exceeded by >150%; launch of the second round.

Flagship event: successful 3rd edition of Constellab Connect, focused on real-world data (RWD) interoperability for innovation and care.

Commercial restructuring: we reshape our go-to-market to reduce CAC, limiting bespoke services in order to refocus on selling and industrializing Constellab.
  6. 2025

    Technology and commercial ramp-up

Mature, market-ready product: Constellab can be deployed autonomously by customers, with a simplified experience for every profile, including non-data users.

Validated go-to-market: a formalized, proven commercial process; Constellab is positioned as a platform to design and deploy immediately useful business apps; referral-driven acquisition, smooth demos via Community, and focus on clear, actionable business dashboards.

Sales-aligned internal organization: technical teams oriented toward "business specifications" and AI packaging; application engineers in the field; project-management upskilling.

Activated ecosystem: structuring partnerships (clusters, business parks), customer workshops and collaborations with freelancers/integrators to accelerate use cases.

Reinforced marketing: Community evolving toward a marketplace, clarified website, white-paper publication; refocusing on field sales over events.

Sales: strong acceleration, with a €500k target (service + product); need to further automate commercialization and accelerate delivery, which favors selling ready-made business modules. Four generic modules have been identified, covering most companies' needs; their relevance is being validated through first sales.

Constellab Edge: formalization of the offer born from our partnership with Beckman Coulter — deploying preconfigured Constellab instances with ready-made business apps at customer sites (turn-key, on-premise).
  7. Early 2026

    Gencovery becomes a Mission-driven company

Gencovery formalizes its societal commitment by becoming a Mission-driven company (Entreprise à Mission), anchoring its contribution to more open, collaborative and sovereign life-sciences research.
  8. Early 2026

    Launch of the CROPulse initiative

CROPulse brings together a consortium of academic and industrial partners to accelerate innovation in crop protection through the Constellab™ platform and digital twins.
  9. 2026 →

    Financial break-even and scale-up

    Financial goal: reach financial break-even.

Scale-up & Marketplace: Gencovery now has the full technological infrastructure to scale its business model. Constellab Community becomes a trusted digital exchange platform to value data and innovative services in life sciences and health, built around: a network of Constellab digital labs already being deployed at customers'; a blockchain layer for trust, traceability and monetization; an active community (creators, integrators, customers) that is curated and contributive; and ready-to-use business modules that help companies — primarily CROs — streamline their R&D, production and commercialization activities through Constellab.
